Anthony: Sadly, we are truely in the "information age" where information =
$$$$. About the only thing that could concevably protext us is the laws,
but when the politicians have their purses lined with the very people that
want our information, this will not happen. There is a price on everything
now. Johsua makes a good point: Encryption can certainly protect you to a
certain extent. Keep in mind though that no matter what you do, a certain
amount of information is bound to be available. Even encrypted messages can
be analyzed for information. Unless you plan to stop using credit cards,
store cards (CVS/Giant/etc. savings cards), and public communications,
you're pretty much leaking constantly. There are companies who make huge
money tying together all of this data to develop "personalities profiles".
Take a look at Netenzza and Palantir for instance :)
