I don't know if it does those things as I have never tried. I have a
bike gps unit that does similar. Also, some of garmins other portable
devices might be more suitable for your tasks. These are mainly for
getting you some place in your car. I carried one to Hawaii with me one
time and it was great to have nav with me there.

surrounded by much flora........... :)
Like, should I decide to walk my (believed) property lines and get co-ord
values for my corners (accept the +/- 200ft variance at this price
point).

I think it is a decent unit. I would suggest the friction mount too,
not the window mount or vent mount.
