Changing configuration (Tools | Options) or setting properties in
about:config just adds or changes lines in the prefs.js file under the
user's Firefox profile
(C:\Users\%username%\appdata\Roaming\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\randomProfile.default
on Win7).
The biggest caveats are that Firefox can not be running at the time and
of course it's unsupported if anything goes wrong.
