I have been following this thread with great interest.
In general, what version of the FF Browser are you poking at?
Knowing this may hasten my rapid change to a new general
browser platform.

I've been reading (on the Mozilla forums, admittedly) that there is a
lot of anti-Firefox propaganda going on from places like ZDNet (who I
always take with a grain of salt since back in the PC Mag days when
they'd sell out on reviews based on advertising space).
However, not making Firefox easily configurable from the command is
incredibly stupid. Even if I'm taking care of five computers, it's a
PITA to manually configure each one rather
than doing it by script. I love FF, but this is a major failure on
their part.
It looks like Chrome is actually focusing on this, so that's a leg up
for them. (Of course, Chrome is supported by a massively successful
company, and Mozilla is non-profit, so I guess that has an impact as
well.
