I have one. The original MJ worked by plugging into a computer and it
didn't take much power... just a broadband connection. That is what I
have. The MJ2 is better because it plugs into a router and then you
plug your phone into that. I don't have one of these. MJs do not work
with splitters of any kind... and I found MJ to be kind of touchy.
When their network is busy they would drop me at 30 minuets and I
would have to redial. Don't get me wrong my MJ saved me a lot of
money in long distance fees but I had lots of glitches and bios
updates that it stopped working until I figured it out and one just
died on me. Dealing with support is only by chat and is a nightmare.
Try it direct from the router to the PC and see if that solves the
problem. If that doesn't work try a different router. MJ will update
their software/BIOS and nothing you own will work with it anymore.
Check to see if there is a BIOS update for the router which may solve
the problem. Sounds like when I was using it.... worked OK and then
just stops working.
I prefer NetTalk. http://www.nettalk.com/ Net talk will work off a
router or a PC. I have mine plugged into a router. 30 bucks a year.
Works like my land line. They say you can plug a fax machine into it.
If I could find an easy way to record the VOIP phone calls I would
close my Land Line account. I have used mine for a year and not a
single problem... nada.

Anyone ever use this? I have a client who installed it on two
computers that are connected with a KVM switch, and on reboot, the
switch stopped working (shows up as unknown device). Removing and
uninstalling the MagicJack software made no change, nor did System
Restore. I find it unlikely that the KVM switch failed suddenly,
but I guess that's possible. MagicJack chat support tells me they
don't support PCs anymore. Any ideas?
