Bryan,
Thanks. That is what I was think of. Was not aware they have to play in
pairs.
So, I guess I now get your 'hub' reference. Yes, I suppose the collision
index of
my initial share could get very ugly very quickly! My bad!
LOL!

Zulfiqar,
The best setup for what you have is the DSL modem in BRIDGED mode to
what you have now. If you like the way the WRT54GL handles nat/routing/port
fwding
better than the ASUS (Does it run tomato or something decent?) do it that way.
I
use wireless routers are pure access points here as well as I have another
device
that handles routing more to my liking.

TNX Bryan,
Why? All it does is split the modem output to two cables that I ASSUME
ONLY go to
2 routers. Hub? No. The connector has zero electronics.
I admit signal level from the modem may not support the || feed. OR,
Might the 2 routers spend time arguing with each other on their WAN ports?
Curious I am.

In theory that'd work like a hub, in practice... i'd not friggin do it :)

Zool,
I know this suggestion is going to get blasted, but; why not just get a
2N1 RJ45 connector and allow 2 separate output feeds from your DSL
Modem? Or, does your DSL Modem also have other ports?
My last DSL Router was 1 line in and 1 line out. That line OUT went to
my router.
My LAN was below/beyond my router. But then, I only do 'wired' LAN for
my clients; and, the only
user is myself. JMHO.

I run ADSL at home. I used to use a all in one gateway, but I had issues,
so I bought a DSL modem and a router only.
Now, I have further split my network out into the following:
DSL Modem<============= WRT54GL (Running Tomato for
Routing)<============ASUS RTN-56U acting as an Access Point only.
Right now, the WRT54GL is dishing out the DHCP stuff and doing the QOS and
what not. I haven't really had any problems, but beofre introducing the
WRT54GL, I had just the ASUS RTN-56U and things were fine also. But I have
noticed a bit more improvement in congested situations (i.e. lots of people
torrenting, youtube and browsing) due to the superior QOS in Tomato.
So my question is:
Is there tangible merit in the above method? Or should I scrap the WRT54GL
and keep just the ASUS RTN-56U?
