How does one separate an observation from our chosen OS?
I ask because I may be having a problem with 'win\task.mgr\.'
or something else that I do not play with regularly.
Somehow, my Miscreant PCs CORE #0 in now reported alive.
Yesterday, this core was dead.
Today it is alive. Now, CORE #1 is dead.
This smacks of OS sw. just a wee tiny bit.
Yes, this my view is via other peeker apps.
Yes, I've already spent money for a new cpu just because I was
told my cpu was 1-Core LITE! Shame on me yet again.
However, this PC gets weekly/monthly upgrades based on how
I run my business. Still, I never expected a cpu core to die!
I there some deep XP fix for the Task Manager?

Jason,
Yes, it does mostly 'idle' 24/7. No, it is not overclocked; and,
in Asus '6-engine-speak', it spends most of its time in 'walk' mode.
(the modes are walk, automobile, jet plane, rocket).

I think I may have a dead core in a C2D-E8400. Is this a normal
expectation?
Both the Task Mgr and CPUZ seem to confirm this. No, I have no clue
when
this happened................... :(
I think I am at about 4yrs of use. Yes, I do use the supplied hs-fan
from
Intel.
I now have to dig thru records to find actual purchase date for this
chip.
It is fall, so, this is pretty normal!
