Safranim- I had a query from a retired professor here at UCLA regarding one Rabbi Ignaz Grossmann, 1825-1897. He served as a rabbi in Cong. Beth Elohim, possibly in Brooklyn and Cong. Bnai Abraham in an unknown location. He had three sons. Rudolph and Louis in the US were both reform rabbis and a third son in Hungary.
Does anyone know of any biographical sources on this rabbi other than his obituary in Die Deborah? The professor's main interest is to know whether this rabbi identified with the Reform movement in his later years. He believes that Beth Elohim was an orthodox congregation. Any ideas? Thanks!
