I'm providing links to basic information on disaster response. This is
material which anyone who is responsible for a paper collection ought to
have read at least once. It's the preservation equivalent of poison-control
information for day care workers -- when you need it, you REALLY need it,
and NOW. Here's a collection of articles on response to a crisis:

While work goes on to save the books and restore the space to usable
condition, it's equally important to safeguard the health of those doing the
work; mold can cause serious problems, and needs to be treated with
