We are still in shock from the devastation wrought by the flood of 10/30/04. The waters surged to heights of 6 to 8 feet in the basement of Hamilton Library (Univ of Hawaii at Manoa). The basement housed Technical Services (acquisitions, cataloging, serials, etc), Government Documents, the Maps Collection, the Systems Office (multiple CPU's and the Voyager OPAC server) and the Library & Information Science (LIS) Graduate Program's classrooms, labs and offices. The damage is stunning. Power has not yet been restored to this building. Recovery efforts are continuing.

The Institute for Astronomy building is not near Hamilton Library. We're located farther up Manoa Valley. The flood covered our front parking lot with mud, but the waters did not reach our building.
