A few years ago I made some field trips to local synagogue libraries to see what other folks do, trying to update my synagogue's. I was sad to hear, in these upper middle class communities that books are often not returned, at least not without much prodding via phone, etc. One place said they leave a cart near the sanctuary before services so people could drop off returns there. Another said start with the children, maybe that can get the parents to return their own selections. --Carol
