I regret to inform members of the Jewish Librarian community that Marcia Goldberg passed away last night. Many of you knew Marcia far longer than I. She came to the University of Maryland several years and single-handedly revolutionized our Judaica collection, introducing standards of professional excellence and unbelievable productivity that have made our library a major resource to students, faculty, and the public at large. Marcia's love for Jewish books and her wide knowledge of the field added immeasurably to our collection; she drew on years of experience and deep learning to generate thousands of new entries that will stand as her permanent monument. She will be sorely missed by her colleagues in the University of Maryland library and in the University generally. Te-hay nishmatah tzrurah bi-tzror ha-hayim, and may her children and grandchildren find comfort among the mourners of zion and Jerusalem.
I am taking the liberty of attaching part of the email I received from her son last night in case people in the area want to attend the funeral or pay a shiva call.
