The discussion about convention costs has brought up several very good
ideas that should be investigated. I wonder whether, with our membership
renewal forms, we could poll the membership about convention attendance.
Would those who haven't attended in the past attend if the cost were
significantly lower, and what is the bottom line that would bring them
in? I agree that we should investigate the college campus idea and the
possibility of making a long term deal with a hotel chain, but would not
sacrifice, under any circumstance, our tradition of dining together. I
think that has defined our organization and given the networking aspect
of our work a reality that preceded, and is not replaced by, the
Internet.
