Were the records in Arabic or English. While the LC name authority file uses "Qaida (Organization)", an argument could be made that in English the name is "Al Queda" as in the sentence "The Al Queda terrorist group...". Also it seems rare that Americans refer to the group as "The Queda" terrorist group, indicating that many if not most Americans are treating the Arabic article as a part of the word.
