Jewish Historical Society of Greater Washington Lillian and Albert Small Jewish Museum
We are proud to announce the launch of a new online exhibition: Half a Day on Sunday: Jewish-owned "Mom and Pop" Grocery Stores. The original 1994 exhibition became one of our most popular exhibits. We have now made this part of our community's history accessible to teachers, students, and scholars in the community and beyond. The exhibition includes a historical essay, an ever-growing searchable database of grocery stores, a photo gallery, and a film about the Jewish grocer's experience in Washington. The dynamic virtual exhibit can be updated and expanded to accommodate new stores and stories as we acquire new information. Have information or photographs from a mom-and-pop grocery store? Please help us gather more information! We welcome any knowledge you have about the stores you find here and stores that are not yet listed. To send us information about a store you don't see already listed, click here: Submit store information Please use the links within the database to submit information about a store you find there as each store has its own update form. If you have photographs or memorabilia that you'd like to donate to the JHSGW archives, please email Claire Uziel, Assistant Archivist: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Jewish Historical Society of Greater Washington Claire Uziel Assistant Archivist Messages and opinions expressed on Hasafran are those of the individual author and are not necessarily endorsed by the Association of Jewish Libraries (AJL) =========================================================== Submissions for Ha-Safran, send to: Hasafran @ lists.acs.ohio-state.edu SUBscribing, SIGNOFF commands send to: Listproc @ lists.acs.ohio-state.edu Questions, problems, complaints, compliments;-) send to: galron.1 @ osu.edu Ha-Safran Archives: Current: http://www.mail-archive.com/hasafran%40lists.acs.ohio-state.edu/maillist.html History: http://www.mail-archive.com/hasafran%40lists.acs.ohio-state.edu/history.html AJL HomePage http://www.JewishLibraries.org
