I was asked by my colleague Dr. Abraham David to post the following announcement of a new publication
Sefer ha-Tashbetz. Responsa of R. Simeon Ben Zemah Duran (Rashbatz). Very recently volume three came out , edited by Joel Katan, Simon Solomon Goldschmidt and Abraham Jacob Goldmintz. Published by: Makhon Shlomo Aumann, Makhon Or ha-Mizrah, Yeshivat Shaa'lbim. Volume one came out in 1998. Volume two in 2002. R. Simeon Duran was one of the greatest North African halakhic figures in the 15th century. He was born in 1361 in Majorca and after the 1391 persecutions he left for Algiers where he died in 1444. His responsa are remarkable historical sources for contemporary Jewish life in North Africa. All the three volumes are available from Machon Yerushalayim.
