Several thoughts on this, as I am continually saddened by the
evidence of tech's acceptanced and the rejection of print. They
should not be mutually exclusive.

As some of you know, as our synagogue has expanded its preschool over
the past 4 years, I have had to box the library. It has now been
completely in storage for 2 years, except for a few shelves of
reference material. Despite this, I have continued to purchase,
rather than waiting for re-opening.

We are now in the midst of a major building campaign, and hope to
break ground next spring. The basic outline of the new structure
(which will be attached to our 95-year-old sanctuary and social hall)
was presented to the Board at this week's meeting. I'm happy to
report that a large Library space is included in the School wing of
the new complex.

This is the general plan for the new space, and doesn't have any
interior outline yet. I'm not sure what the capacity of the shelves
will be, or what other plans the architects will have for it over
time. But it is encouraging as a start.
