Personally, I don't trust Follett. They are buying up all the library software companies and they have redone their software program several times and then made people pay extra to get into the new program. I spoke to them at the National Education Computer Convention and they tried to show me how much better their new product is but I don't think I would buy them if I were a new customer. I'm no longer managing a library but we had Sagebrush Athena and the school I'm at now also has it at my recommendation.
A perfect example of Follett's lack of ethics was they were selling Athena at the AJL convention when they knew that the company had taken over Sagebrush and were planning to eventually get people to switch over to Destiny. Whatever software you look at, get a program that has the Marc records capture program integrated into your software. It's inevitable in running a Jewish library that you have to do original cataloging and this program let's you capture the records from other libraries and "seamlessly" incorporate the Marc records into your own catalog and then you add your bar code and other info as needed. -- Evi Reznick <mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]>[EMAIL PROTECTED] Messages and opinions expressed on Hasafran are those of the individual author and are not necessarily endorsed by the Association of Jewish Libraries (AJL) =========================================================== Submissions for Ha-Safran, send to: Hasafran @ lists.acs.ohio-state.edu SUBscribing, SIGNOFF commands send to: Listproc @ lists.acs.ohio-state.edu Questions, problems, complaints, compliments;-) send to: galron.1 @ osu.edu Ha-Safran Archives: Current: http://www.mail-archive.com/hasafran%40lists.acs.ohio-state.edu/maillist.html History: http://www.mail-archive.com/hasafran%40lists.acs.ohio-state.edu/history.html AJL HomePage http://www.JewishLibraries.org
