Hi there Living in far off South Africa I really appreciate being kept in the loop about whatever is going on there with you. I subscribe to any number of lists besides Hasafran, and never feel overwhelmed, as the delete button is right at hand. I am particularly surprised at intolerance to Death notices, especially when it usually results in a request to donate money to AJL Funds. It is a form of acknowledgement of the members of AJL and makes it a community. It is common on other lists as well. The only thing that upsets me is spam (junk mail).
