THE MAN WHO SPOKE TO GOD:
Book/CDs capture the artistry of world-famous Jewish cantor, Leib Glantz

BOCA RATON, Fla., August 2008 ? A newly published book and CD set is
a scholarly and personal tribute to Leib Glantz, considered by many
to be one of the greatest cantors and composers who ever lived.

Edited by his son, Jerry Glantz, with contributions by the most
important thinkers and practitioners of cantorial and Jewish
music?and music in general?this stunning book provides a
comprehensive overview and analysis of Glantz?s significant
contributions to cantorial art over the past century. Known as ?the
people?s cantor?, Glantz (1898-1964) has been recognized throughout
the world as a brilliant composer, interpreter and cantor, as well as
a scholar and teacher of Jewish music.

Two high-quality compact discs, included with the book, feature 30 of
Leib Glantz?s most important compositions?some of which have never
been heard before?
as sung by the world-renowned cantor.

The Man Who Spoke to God includes 20 of Glantz?s most important
articles and lectures, including his monumental lecture at the 1952
Convention of the Cantors Assembly, as well as his six famous
lectures on Nu?sach (the traditional Jewish prayer modes) that were
broadcast on Israel?s national radio in 1961. An additional 53
essays?many of academic quality?include writings by some of the
greatest minds in sacred music.

CRITICAL PRAISE FOR THE MAN WHO SPOKE TO GOD

?... his recordings are filled with passion, beauty and yearning ? as
is this book about him.?
-- Elie Wiesel, Nobel Peace Prize Laureate

?I still thrill to Glantz?s recordings. There is no one quite like
him in the originality, beauty and integrity of his renditions of our
sacred music.?
-- Alan Dershowitz, Professor of Law, Harvard Law School
