Last Sunday someone asked me for the reason Yerushalayim is spelled
lamed-mem yet pronounced with the -ayim ending more than 300 times in
the Bible. I spent a week researching the etymology and history of the word.

This month's column, "The Spelling of Yerushalayim," may be
downloaded from:http://home.earthlink.net/~ddstuhlman/crc108.pdf It
is in PDF format to accommodate the Hebrew and Greek.

There is a Hebrew version available; ask for it.
