Dear Safranim: Last week at the National Jewish Book Awards from the Jewish Book Council, I was wuite excited to be sitting surrounded by some of the great authors of the year. I did not know it, but the man to my right with whom I shared an arm rest was Professor James Kugel. Directly in front of me was Rabbi Irving Yitz Greenberg and his wife Blu, both authors. They were there also since one of the awards has been named in honor of their late son. To their right was the author, Joseph Kertes. Two rows up was Ruth Gruber, and so many more. I am still fixing it up, but I have a page of the finalists and winners of the National Jewish Book Awards with book covers and hyperlinks to book reviews.
