Hi Rachel, I have not done this in a synagogue but I have led groups in Adult education programs. I'd be happy to give you some ideas. I would recommend a group leader with some experience. A peer led group is difficult if the participants do not have a background in the process of writing or critiquing. The other option is to use an introductory writing/creativity book - something like The Artists Way by Julia Camreon- that the participants can explore together.
