Once a month I show a foreign film at the Northville District Library. We have purchased 2 movie licenses: SWANK and Motion Picture License Corporation for this purpose. The films I have shown the following films successfully but are not necessarily for family showing, teens and up: Bonjour Monsieur Shlomi (Israeli) The Band's Visit (Israeli) Sallah (Israeli) Ushpizin (Israeli) The Year My Parents Went on Vacation (Brazilian Portuguese) Harmonists (German) Ship of Fools - American, but deals with a German cruise ship in the 1930's I am planning to show the following films with Jewish themes: Nora's Will (Spanish) Human Resources Manager (Israeli) I wish I could get a hold of the film Noodle (Israeli) on a DVD. Blazing Saddles is NOT a "Jewish" comedy. Mel Brooks throws in the Yiddish and Yiddish accents but this is NOT in any way Jewish or fit for total family viewing. Frisco Kid , on the other hand, is an EXCELLENT Jewish movie showing devotion to Torah and mitzvot, yet there are scenes not suitable for all family members (the saloon scenes, the desecration of the Torah, the attempted barrel bashing of the Rabbi...)
