Dear Rachel, Sholem Aleichem, 1859-1916 is the author's current name heading in the Library of Congress Name Authority File (n 79011119). There are numerous cross-references in the authority record directing users to this heading. The author's works, except those for children, are classed under PJ5129.R2. The R2 is for Rabinowitz, Shalom, which is the former heading for the author. It is the policy of the Library of Congress that once a classification number has been selected for an author, that number is rarely changed. In the Library of Congress Classification Schedule there is a cross reference from Sholem Aleichem directing users to PJ5129.R2.
As Shane and Beth have already stated, the name heading in the bibliographic record should be the current form of the name heading: Sholem Aleichem and NOT Aleichem, Sholem. I hope this helps.
