All,
My understanding (from actually writing to publishers a number of years ago) is
that it violates copyright to transfer from one medium to another.  I gather
tha,( like photocopying and distributing copies to students), this is something
that many, many people do anyway.  There is a mistaken belief that as long as
you don't profit from copying & distributing, copyright goes out the window.
We've had copyright attorneys addressthese issues at some AJL conventions,
and I think people are always disappointed to learn the facts about home use,
fair use, etc.
On the other hand,  it's been a while since I've explored the issue.

What about the copyright issues?  And what I’m understanding is that there may
be some cassettes that will not permit you to copy?  I’m cc’ing all, as there
seemed to be a lot of interest from others.

Have you changed all your light bulbs yet?
Buy them at cost at the Y, while the supply lasts!

Peggy,

I have converted a few and it an easy process.  You can buy a DVD/VHS converter
for under $300.  Put a blank disk in one side and your VHS in the other.  Push
one button and wait the time it would take to play the movie.  Finalize the DVD
from the menu and you are done.

We are disbanding our outstanding collection of about 300 films of Jewish
interest on video cassette.  Does anyone have constructive suggestions on
this?  Is this sellable?  Would any of you be interested in the whole
collection or individual videos?

Have any of you converted videocassettes to dvd?  If so, what was your
experience and what were the costs?

Thanks so much!

I received a brochure from Zubal Books (zubal.com) which says: We'll Boy Your
Books.

Has anyone used this source?
