** Posting for a friend. Please contact Archie Granot directly with any questions or comments:**** ** ** I, Archie Granot, am a papercut artist, working and living in Jerusalem. My works are in public and private collections world wide.**** **** I created Bar Mitzvah Books for my 2 sons: Ram and Roi. Ram's book is in the collection of the Library of Congress. Roi's book has been in my home since my sons barmitzvah. It is important to my family that it be in a home where it will be properly cared for. So I am interested in selling it. The book for my son Roi was done on the occasion of his bar mitzvah in October 1989. The book is 15.25" high; 11.5" wide and is 2" deep. The manuscript was executed on sheets of 200gm hand made, Fabriano paper and was hand bound in a leather binding. The first page is a colored and multi-layered papercut, encapsulated by two texts in Hebrew, with the name Roi at its center. The central element of the front page papercut is repeated on the front cover with inlaid in cut leathers. The unique double binding, by Yehuda Miklaf, compensates for the differing paper heights All remaining multilayered pages in the book follow the design of the first page and contain the haftarah chanted by the bar mitzvah boy in the synagogue. This text has been enhanced by a decorative border incorporating excerpts from a piyyut, a lyrical composition, for the Shabbat eve, that was composed during the second half of the 16th century by the Italian philosopher and kabbalist, Rabbi Mordechai ben Judah Dato. The final page of the book also contains a colophon, signed by the artist, that reads: "I hereby give this haftarah book to my son, Roi, in the holy city of Jerusalem as he accepts responsibility for observing the sacred commandments. I completed the book on the eve of Rosh Hashanah, 5750." This book is valued at $80000.**** **** *To view the book go to: http://www.archiegranot.com/pages/the-roi-granot-bar-mitzvah-book-pv-c4-137.html ***** * ***** I can be reached at: [email protected] or by phone: 972-2-625-2210**** ** ** Archie Granot Papercuts**** *http://archiegranot.com***** *http://haggadah.co.il***** Studio and Gallery: 1 Agron Street, Jerusalem 94625, Israel**** Tel: 972-2-625-2210 Mobile: 972-54-464-1568**** In USA toll free: 1-866-475-7697**** Fax: 972-2-624-3844**** e-mail: [email protected]**** [email protected]**** *Fan us on Facebook*: http://www.facebook.com/archiegranotpapercuts**** **** ** ** ** **
