We keep a "donor book" (nice cover, etc.) in the library. Each entry
includes the following information: donor, in honor/memory of details, date
donated, book details. Then we dispose of the books as usual, our "free"
pile, public library sales & yes, the recycle bin. Since some books are
repurposed, we don't save book plates. Removal most likely would damage the
books.

Hmm, maybe we should start taking pictures of the plates & including them
in the donor file....

The best idea I've heard is to put the bookplates in other books.
