DO NOT REPLY TO ELIZABETH F. STABLER EET’s 9th Annual Helene Spring Library Event Sunday, March 25th 1:00 PM Featuring Alison Pick, author of far to go 2011 Canadian Jewish Book Award Winner Pick’s multilayered narrative, far to go, inspired by her own family history, is part family epic, part love story, and part psychological drama, shedding light on the life of secular, assimilated Jews in Czechoslovakia in 1938, on the eve of World War II, as Nazi ideology takes hold. The novel focuses on the Bauer family, affluent secular Jews, who like many at that time in that place, did not see nor could imagine what lay ahead.
Please be with us to hear this gifted author speak about her book, her family history, and the way the two are interwoven. Copies of the book may be purchased at the EET gift shop or the event reception. A dessert reception and book signing in our social hall follow the presentation.
