[My thanks to Hallie Cantor, AJLNYMA newsletter editor, for suggesting a repost with spacing.]
Shalom! Can you believe it's spring again and time to start planning toward our annual convention? The AJL Mentoring Committee would like to remind all AJL members that as an international organization, the committee is here to serve all constituents. If any of you, either stateside or abroad, are planning mentoring events of interest, please tell us about them so that we may share your experience. The committee also has a modest budget for such activities, so do contact the committee with your request at your earliest convenience. Do you have a local mentoring committee or mavens whom you would like listed on the website or in the membership directory? Our organization has traditionally been known for our level of expertise and helpfulness. The committee's motto for this year's convention will be "AJL: Where every member is a mentor." And speaking of tradition, out committee will again host a Mentor Mingle where those who are attending for their first time may meet (and be paired) with seasoned attendees. In addition, members who are library students, newly graduated or in new positions of employment may meet with volunteers from both SSC and RAS for a year-long commitment. We will have door-prizes and fun raffle with an orientation towards professional development. A soft topic will be "Libraries in Flux: What new trends in technology and librarianship mean to today's Judaica librarian". So watch this space for more to come!
