A more permanent and more functional "publicity" for such special
collections would be to make them available as online digital collections
available for one's own community and for others either as a subscription or
lendable resource.

If the collection is really worthwhile, we at www.PublishersRow.com could
try to work with a library to make it available cost effective fashion
(probably even free for the library) for all parties concerned.

I love the idea! It could be used as a great promotion tool when AJL
members attend other Jewish events, have an info or exhibit table, copies
could be sent to Judaica libraries everywhere. It would not be a small
project though.

I have been thumbing through Volume 16/17 of Judaica Librarianship which
recently arrived. There are two articles about distinctive library
collections. It occurs to me how little most Jewish library users know
about the existence of special collections. Would it be feasible to develop
a documentary DVD which highlighted these collections? Synagogues are
always looking for programs and this presentation would not only be
generally informative, but could be used to develop interest and awareness
of Judaica Librarianship. Further, synagogues interested in fostering their
own libraries could use this as an introduction to the particular attributes
of their own collections. Is anything like this available? Any thoughts?
