With all due respect, the Boy in the Striped Pajamas is pretty well recognized as being an inappropriate representation of the Holocaust. It is aimed, first of all, at younger readers, but it is so unrealistic as to be discouraged by most Holocaust experts and educators.
That being said, has anyone suggested an obvious book -- Night, by Elie Wiesel? That should be a standard, in my opinion.
