Not really off-topic since it is a library project. We're further along on ours
(due out by high holidays), and I'd love to hear about the experiences of
others before I do the final wrap. So please post here!

Ours will be CD format only, $5 each, profits to be divided between Mazon & our
local food pantry. No plans to make it dynamic at this time.

One thing, we've done is say that all recipes have to meet 2 criteria.

1. The dish has to been served at a synagogue function (including bm parties,
weddings, wine-tastings, onegs etc.) Specifically excluded are family shabbat
dinners or any other personal home meals.)

2. Either an attendee has requested that the item be served at future function
or an attendee has asked for the recipe.

This policy has eliminated a lot of ghastly "family favorites" that family
members have been politely consuming w/o comment for years. "No, no not
pineapple chicken again"!!!  It has also reduced the number of recipes which is
not necessarily a bad thing. Of course, most events at our small shul are at
least partially member-cooked. Reminds me, I still have a much-loved brisket
recipe to retrieve from a former member.

Interestingly, judging from the stack of recipes, we are not the "people of the
vegetable", at least at public events. We are the carbohydrate chosen.

Subject: [ha-Safran] OFF-TOPIC (but somewhat literary?)

Friends:
I’m trying to cast a wide net to ask if any synagogues – or
synagogue committees – have put together cookbooks that they’ve
posted or published online. Our Sisterhood is gearing up to do a cookbook, and
the possibility of providing a printed version and then following up with some
kind of electronic, “living” cookbook is very enticing.  But
they don’t want to reinvent the wheel if this has been done elsewhere and
valuable lessons have been learned!

Any thoughts much appreciated, and please respond to me off-list:

Thanks very much.
