Weine Classification and Elazar are definitely not wastes of time. These classification schemes were specifically designed for Jewish libraries because LC and Dewey do not adequately cover subjects that can be unique to Jewish libraries. That is why the Library of Congress actually recognizes these schemes as legitimate and not "a waste of time".
