You may have to catalog them yourself, but first search them on Worldcat,
Jewish library databases such as the National Library of Israel and the Jewish
Theological Seminary, and AJL member catalogs:
http://www.jewishlibraries.org/main/Resources/Membersrsquo;Catalogs.aspx
If you have to catalog from scratch, be sure to search the name in the LC name
authorities list: http://authorities.loc.gov/
Have you been retaining LC and DDC classification and LC subject headings in
the records you're downloading? Do you plan to edit them to include Weine or
Elazar classification or Jewish subject headings? Build your original record
to be consistent with the rest of your database.

Hi everyone, I am new to posting to Hasafran and not sure how this works. I am
a MLIS graduate student and Library Coordinator for the Tucson Association of
Jewish Libraries. We are in the midst of creating a branched library system in
the city and currently I am cataloging thousands of books. We are using
ResourceMate and when imputing items, I have it searching through Library of
Congress, Ohiolink Central Catalog, ACCESS Pennsylvania Database, Toronto
Public library, and Amazon.
Every so often I come across items that I cannot find anywhere in the databases
and thus do not enter them into our own system and I set them aside.
Is this not the right thing to do? Is there a way I should be handling items
that I cannot find on major databases? I have not learned how to create my own
but is this what I should be doing? What is it you all do in this situation if
you have met it?
Thank you for the response!
