Dear Lauren, In addition to all of the fine poets already mentioned, I would recommend the poems of Yiddish poet Reyzl Zshikhlinski/רייזל זשיכלינסקי. Her work has been translated into English and German. There are, of course, various spellings of her name, but she is established in the LC/NACO Authority File as Zychlinsky, R., ‡d 1910-2001.
