The New York Metropolitan Area Chapter of the Association of Jewish Libraries (AJL-NYMA) will hold its Winter 2015 Conference on Tuesday, January 27th, 10 am - 1:30 pm, at Chabad Lubavitch Library Exhibition Hall, 770 Eastern Parkway, Brooklyn, NY 11213 between Kingston and Brooklyn Avenues (10-11 am) and Oholei Torah, 667 Eastern Parkway, Brooklyn, NY 11213 between Brooklyn and New York Avenues (11am-1:30 pm). An illustrated survey of Jewish collections. This overview will discuss the development and movement of Jewish collections on six continents over the course of 2,000 years. 12:15-1:00 pm Dr. Janette Silverman, Outreach Director at JTS's Davidson Graduate School of Education and Professional genealogist Making History Relevant and Personal. This session will explore the ways that we can use primary documents, archives and other library resources to help our teachers and students connect with historical events. We will look at library holdings and resources that can be accessed over the internet to help our students become engaged and identify with history.
