Hi, Everyone - Although this is not exactly a curriculum response, I would like to highly recommend a book (for ages 12+) that can be used for independent reading or over a period of time, a curriculum in itself. The book is Hope for the Holy Land by Mona Pastroff Goldstein. This book tells the history of modern Israel from 1948 to recent times through the eyes of a Jewish family and their Arab friends, ~ and we experience the confrontations and battles they face in pursuit of peace with their neighbors. There’s an extensive Teachers’ Guide, as well as a glossary and time-line of events – many areas to trigger strong questions and deep thinking. Hope for the Holy Land can be purchased on Amazon or contact the author, Mona Goldstein – [email protected]<mailto:[email protected]>. She was with the Miami-Dade County Public Schools for over 30 years as a classroom teacher, volunteer coordinator, curriculum writer, assistant principal, and principal, and now retired. We are a pluralistic Jewish high school, so anything that is aimed for teens would be helpful. Thanks so much, Stacy _________________________ Stacy Katz Librarian Gann Academy 333 Forest St Waltham, MA 02452 781-642-6800 x533
