I heartily second the recommendation; Sir Gilbert's map guides are excellent
teaching tools.

Michelle,

I highly recommend a book called "Atlas of Jewish History' by Martin
Gilbert. Although it is set up as an Atlas there is a wealth of information
on Jewish settlement, migration and movement. It is also a great way to
teach map reading skills and children of all ages, especially 3rd and 4th
graders love the interactive lesson of learning through reading these
excellent maps. I have used this book often which was recently reprinted.

Dear Hasafran Community,

I have a request from a teacher to find materials on the 3rd-4th grade
reading level about Jewish involvement in European exploration, Jewish life
in Europe during the time of exploration, and Jewish involvement in
exploration of North and South America. I would really appreciate any
suggestions you may have for material as what I have thus far seen is of a
higher reading/comprehension level.

Thank you!

Michelle
