Eliot, Murder in the Cathedral – “The last act is the greatest treason. To do the right deed for the wrong reason.” Eliot is being specific, but I have in my mind another statement that has a more general application: “It is an equal treason to do the right thing for the wrong reason” Does anyone know the source of this quote?
