Those of you in the metro New York area might be interested in the semi-staged reading of the musical SHLEMIEL CROOKS at The Old Library Theatre in Bergen County, New Jersey, on April 17. The musical is based on the Sydney Taylor Honor Book Shlemiel Crooks and Chicken Bone Man, both by Anna Olswanger.
Shlemiel Crooks is a whimsical, warmhearted family musical about the importance of family loyalty and the need to follow your dreams. Narrated by Jerry, the dog, the play features Jerry and his boy Berl, who stop the ghost of Pharaoh and a couple of dimwitted crooks from ruining Passover. Directed by Linda Wielkotz, with musical direction by Evan T. Charpentier.
