I'd be inclined to go with ALL the ones you mentioned, Betsy. If the name
rings a bell, a student is more likely to approach the book with some
interest, instead of a sigh and an eye-roll. The RBG and Nimoy books are
fairly popular in my library, too, but biographies in general are a tough
sell.

On a related topic, does anyone have recommendations for other graphic
"novels" along the lines of the Rabbi Harveys? They continue to be such a
big hit with boys who are usually non-readers, and I'd love to be able to
offer something as a natural follow-up to the series. The Hereville books
are great for girls, but not so inviting to boys. Suggestions?

Subject: [ha-Safran] Updating our children's biography collection

As we start a new year, I'm trying to update our library's collection of
biographies for children and young adults to include books about more people
that the students actually know. We have a number of excellent new books
about Ruth Ginsberg, Leonard Nimoy, and beautiful titles about Marc Chagall
and others. And of course the plethora of Anne Frank and Albert Einstein
books. What I'm trying to find is GOOD (or at least decent) books about
"current" folks. I see some for Aly Raisman, Indina Menzel, Mark
Zuckerberg, but have not yet committed to them. Does anyone have any
recommendations along these lines?

Thanks so much for your help.
