As someone who has had the honor and pleasure of working closely with Jim
on a number of AJL projects and programs, especially in RAS where we first
collaborated on the Judaica Reference and Bibliography Committee (JR&BC), I
thank him for all of his hard work as a dedicated member of AJL and RAS and
as vice-chair and chair of the JR&BC, vice-president and president of RAS
and, of course, AJL. In addition, he chaired several AJL Annual
Conferences, a difficult and very time- and energy-consuming challenge. I
could go on and on listing his all his accomplishments, but there are so
many, forgive me for not recalling them all. Brandeis and AJL are
definitely going to miss him.

So, Jim, AJL Annual Conference will not be the same without you, but I
personally want to wish you a very long, healthy, and happy retirement and
hope that I'll see you again somewhere down the line before too long.
Mazel-tov on your new "position." You deserve some down time, but knowing
you, I'll bet you'll find ways to be active and contribute more to both
Judaica and all-around librarianship as well, but don't feel compelled as
you've certainly done so much for Judaic studies over the years and deserve
a rest. I wish you much enjoyment and satisfaction in all your upcoming
endeavors. *Yasher-koyekh* and *kol ha-kavod, *Jim!

In appreciation and with my best wishes,
Elliot
