Hi, Steven, I review books propagating anti-Israel propaganda for the Committee for Accuracy in Middle East Reporting (CAMERA); my reviews are posted on the Camera Education Institute website, under "Problematic Books," and you can consult my Tamimi review here <https://urldefense.com/v3/__https://www.camera.org/article/they-called-me-a-lioness-a-palestinian-girls-fight-for-freedom/__;!!KGKeukY!25MwVxIzGZIEwkz5DzRKT-stZ-pgttfszRnj-TYCM63DYVwtCO6xcbIPSj1Xf4kZDdH3Td52J3K_LN_tZf5kO7M0hAA$ > :

Just to offer one example, after October 7, this is what she loudly proclaimed to Israel, as reported on October 30 by Israeli media <https://urldefense.com/v3/__https://www.jpost.com/arab-israeli-conflict/article-771102__;!!KGKeukY!25MwVxIzGZIEwkz5DzRKT-stZ-pgttfszRnj-TYCM63DYVwtCO6xcbIPSj1Xf4kZDdH3Td52J3K_LN_tZf5kDatMiZw$ >. “We are waiting for you in all the West Bank cities from Hebron to Jenin – we will slaughter you and you will say that what Hitler did to you was a joke. We will drink your blood and eat your skull. Come on, we are waiting for you.” I suggest that you read the entire review, but here are a few more examples to prove that she is far from being "Miss Innocent," as packaged for the media: Tamimi has a long history of support for terrorists. Would someone who opposes violence show up at a conference attended by Deputy Secretary-General of Hezbollah Sheikh Naeem Qasim, Vice-President (now President) of Islamic Jihad Ziyad-Al-Nahalah and Ali Baraka, Hamas’s representative in Lebanon—a conference addressed on video by Hamas’s leader, Ismail Hania? And why would Tamimi later appear (in September, 2017) at a European-Parliament-hosted conference in Brussels on a panel with terrorist airline hijacker Leila Khaled of the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine? Khaled is no pacifist; interviewed <https://urldefense.com/v3/__https://elderofziyon.blogspot.com/2014/04/mondoweiss-and-human-rights-activist.html*.U0P_D6hdWuK__;Iw!!KGKeukY!25MwVxIzGZIEwkz5DzRKT-stZ-pgttfszRnj-TYCM63DYVwtCO6xcbIPSj1Xf4kZDdH3Td52J3K_LN_tZf5kbNLnIAM$ > in 2014, she made this very clear: “Resistance takes more than one face. It can be all kinds of resistance. Non violent and violent…. We chose armed struggle. We did not achieve our goals. Then the intifada broke out and the whole world took us seriously. We gained the support of people all over the world. Still, we did not reach our goals because the leadership was not brave enough at that time to escalate the intifada, to take it to another level.” The fact is that Ahed Tamimi's autobiography, which is full of lies, *should not be used in ANY school*. It does not provide factual information; it is totally a propaganda document. As for books that present Israel fairly, I recommend going to the Camera Education Institute's "Recommended Books" page on their website. Again, here <https://urldefense.com/v3/__https://www.camera-edu.org/resources/recommended-books/__;!!KGKeukY!25MwVxIzGZIEwkz5DzRKT-stZ-pgttfszRnj-TYCM63DYVwtCO6xcbIPSj1Xf4kZDdH3Td52J3K_LN_tZf5k6Wu9JxY$ >is the link: https://urldefense.com/v3/__https://www.camera-edu.org/resources/recommended-books/__;!!KGKeukY!25MwVxIzGZIEwkz5DzRKT-stZ-pgttfszRnj-TYCM63DYVwtCO6xcbIPSj1Xf4kZDdH3Td52J3K_LN_tZf5k6Wu9JxY$ To get a picture of the effect of terror on innocent Israelis, I would recommend *The Bat-Chen Diaries, *the writings of Bat-Chen Shachat, raised to be a peacenik, who was killed in a terrorist bombing. Her parents published her idealistic writings posthumously. Nothing could be more different from the bloodcurdling utterances of terrorist collaborator Ahed Tamimi, sanitized for American consumption. But, if I may, I would suggest that the answer is not to balance one book with another. If a teacher teaches one book, like *They Called Me a Lioness, *realistically, how much time is he/she going to be willing to teach "the other side." And anyway, the story of Bat-Chen isn't "the other side." It's true, and Ahed Tamimi's so-called autobiography is a pack of lies. Yes, her community has suffered, but they have only themselves to blame, and they don't support Gandhi and MLK as Tamimi claims; they support drinking Israeli blood and crushing Israeli skulls, to quote Tamimi herself. I would, however, suggest another book that teachers and principals can consult: Noa Tishby's *Israel: A Simple Guide to the Most Misunderstood Country on Earth. * Tishby speaks clearly and simply, and the book's appendix repeats the main points of her argument in brief statements. Tishby comes from the left, but believes in her country. Everyone who doesn't have the time to read a big history book like Daniel Gordis's Israel should start with Tishby. One last point: I outlined the problem of anti-Israel kidlit in schools and on websites at my presentation (with my colleague Karen Tal-Makhluf at CAMERA) on Sept. 15th to AJL. Since you're a member, I assume, you can access the presentation at the Members Only portal on the AJL website. I suggest watching it. I spoke for 15 minutes on anti-Israel books, then Karen spoke about recommended books. I think we clarify what you're up against. You can contact CAMERA for help in dealing with the school if you wish. That's what we're there for. Please let me know if I can help you with this in any way.
