It worked at least for my installing Haskore.

I have some concerns that I might loose things I already have
painfully installed (e.g. "text-icu") in the process of using
the Haskell Platform.

I'm also worried about something similar happening would I upgrade
my GHC (I'm currently using 6.10.1, but 6.10.3 is available).


That's why I was asking for some description on Cabal, though
the needed info probably pertains more to GHC per se...
