#45: A source build of HP recommends a non-standard use of 'sudo' ------------------------------------+--------------------------------------- Reporter: Telemachus | Owner: duncan Type: enhancement | Status: new Priority: trivial | Milestone: Blue Sky Component: Generic source tarball | Resolution: Keywords: | ------------------------------------+--------------------------------------- Comment (by isaacdupree):
Lots of documentation says to "sudo make install" these days. Even on those distros that *allow* you to su to root by default, sudo is generally installed and functional too... I was using sudo on Gentoo four years ago!... I think sudo is probably only a bad suggestion for people who already regularly use su, prefer it, and know why they want to do a "sudo" suggestion with su. There may be exceptions. We're just Haskell... How about we don't care until we hear about somewhere someone actually running into the problem? -- Ticket URL: <http://trac.haskell.org/haskell-platform/ticket/45#comment:3> haskell-platform <http://trac.haskell.org/haskell-platform> The Haskell Platform: a comprehensive and robust collection of Haskell libraries _______________________________________________ Haskell-platform mailing list Haskell-platform@projects.haskell.org http://projects.haskell.org/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/haskell-platform
