It would also help if you could establish that a better solution was possible.
If the engine blows up, you don't need to understand the chemistry behind this - the vehicle sucks.
If the engine blows up because you put a critical mass of fissionables in the tank and drove it into a gas pump... I'd say it's the fact that it was raining moderator that day that was hateful.
