No, there aren't any. *All* OSs are hateful in this regard. Surprised? But, that's how it should be. I could understand if it did that only when external tools like lynx failed, because it's not easy for an HTTP downloader to communicate the HTTP status to its parent... but with LWP there's no excuse.
