I'd just moved to Houston. I came there from Sydney, where it was
summer, into what the news was calling "the great Houston ice storm".
I had never lived any place where it froze before, and didn't own
anything that a yank would consider "warm clothes"... not even
bedclothes. Nor did I have a car. Luckily I *did* have a down-filled
sleeping bag so I basically cocooned up for the duration, and by
wearing ALL my clothes for the trip was able to walk the half mile to
the office and get a lift to the mall to buy something suitable for the
frozen "south".
Fortunately there are no hills worth the name in Houston. And it was an
RL01 disk pack and 8" floppies that contained my port of "ed" to
RSX-11... not punch cards.
