Sadly we aren't using HBase anymore and it's not looking like we'll ever use it 
in production. Though I'm still interested in this issue.
I've barely looked at this in months so if someone else is interested it might 
be better they take it over.
At the least I'd appreciate comments from anyone who uses the thrift server.

Attached is what I was thinking for puts, gets and deletes.
I'll add a few iterations over the next week.
